Ssshhh. Don’t tell Clayton Theodore that we went hiking without him…
31C in the valley. 21C, 2075m atop Lower Austria’s highest mountain. Guess where we opted to be on an otherwise hot and smarmy Sunday?
(In the event you are curious, the mountain grass does have a faintly sweet aroma.)
“Forest Bathing” has been trending for some time now, and for good reason.
The heatwave affecting Europe has more than worn out its welcome, at least for us. On one particularly miserable day last week the forecast 39°C found us seeking refuge in our local mountains, 1715m above Austria and where the daytime high reached just 22°C.
Perhaps we are indeed on a slippery slope with all of this hiking and wandering. Though, I have not subscribed to Bergwelten. Yet.
Though the day did begin with an H&S plan.
All this time, Europe’s largest bird-of-prey sanctuary has been just 30 minutes from my home. Today was a recon mission. I will return, real camera in hand.
We think Clayton Theodore has an addiction. To hiking.
